چکیده

Open-pit coal mining causes land and soil degradation negatively affects properties. It is of great importance to determine variabilities in properties the abandoned area after mine closed bring it back nature by implementing appropriate rehabilitation programs. The aim this study was evaluate plant nutrient availability toxic element pollution an site. results indicated that amounts plant-available P K are quite low (<90 kg P2O5 ha-1) moderate (<170 K2O ha-1), respectively. concentrations available Fe (>4.5 mg kg-1) Cu (>0.2 too high whole Soils generally have organic matter content with ranging from 0.42% 3.67%. Toxic concentrations, especially Ni (>75 Cr (>100 kg-1), extremely above optimum levels, posing a risk open-pit (abandoned), dump sites storage area.

Origin and spatial distribution of metals in agricultural soils

Presence of toxic metals in agricultural soils can impose adverse health impact on consumers. The main purpose of this study was to determine spatial distribution of elements Fe, Sb, Mn in agriculture soils and crops of Hamedan Province in Iran. Soil samples (0-20 cm depth) were collected from an area of 2831 km2.  Iron, Antimony and Manganese in samples of soil and agricultural crop...

Nutrient concentrations in tree leaves on brown and gray reclaimed mine soils in West Virginia.

Surface mining in Appalachia disrupts large areas of forested land. Federal and state laws require disturbed lands be reclaimed by re-constructing the landscape and replacing soil materials to provide a rooting medium. If insufficient quantities of native topsoil are available, substitute materials derived from the overburden may be used as soil media. This study examined soil and foliar nutrie...

Mercury distribution across 14 U.S. Forests. Part I: spatial patterns of concentrations in biomass, litter, and soils.

Results from a systematic investigation of mercury (Hg) concentrations across 14 forest sites in the United States show highest concentrations in litter layers, strongly enriched in Hg compared to aboveground tissues and indicative of substantial postdepositional sorption of Hg. Soil Hg concentrations were lower than in litter, with highest concentrations in surface soils. Aboveground tissues s...

Altitudinal patterns and controls of plant and soil nutrient concentrations and stoichiometry in subtropical China

Altitude is a determining factor of ecosystem properties and processes in mountains. This study investigated the changes in the concentrations of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) and their ratios in four key ecosystem components (forest floor litter, fine roots, soil, and soil microorganisms) along an altitudinal gradient (from 50 m to 950 m a.s.l.) in subtropical China. The results...
